What Day-of Coordination Is…
Day-of coordination is SO confusing to some couples, and who can blame them? Unless you happen to be in the wedding industry yourself, this is probably one of the first weddings, and maybe even first big events, you’ve ever planned. You’re not expected to be the expert – in fact, that is where a day-of coordinator (or DOC) comes in!
Day-of Coordination IS
Despite the name, day-of coordination doesn’t actually start on the wedding day. We begin meeting within 60 days of your wedding, and you have our support throughout the month-of. That means up until that point, YOU are your wedding planner. You interview and secure your service partners (though we will happily provide recommendations), act as their primary contact, and put the major details into place.
When we are closer to the wedding, we start acting as a partner to help you nail down the final details. We review your contracts, walk through your venue with your key service partners, and develop a timeline that includes all of the important details we will need to execute your plans. We look for those little red flags – if you missed something, we work with you to find it (great example – maybe you missed the fact that your rentals can only be picked up on a weekday, but your venue contract promises you will have them removed on your weekend wedding day). We help put out the fires before they start, and come equipped at the wedding with your complete instructions and vision. Together, we combine your hard work with our expertise to create the very best wedding day possible.
